In summary: Wailea Beach Resort is the biggest wedding venue on Maui’s south shore by a wide margin, with a 30,000 square foot lawn that seats 1,000 for dinner. It is open and actively booking. It publishes no wedding price of any kind, and the third party figures floating around for it disagree with each other by thousands of dollars, so treat every number you have seen elsewhere as unconfirmed until the resort puts one in writing for your date.
What it actually costs
Marriott publishes nothing. Not a site fee, not a ceremony fee, not a package, not a food and beverage minimum, not a per person bar figure. The wedding page says to choose from curated packages or plan a custom event, then routes you to a phone number. That is the whole of it.
Three third party sources publish numbers and none of them agree:

The honest position is that a Wailea Beach Resort wedding is priced by proposal and you will not know your number until you ask for one.
The spaces, with the resort’s own capacities
These come from Marriott’s published capacity chart, so they are solid.

The luau problem, and it is a real one
Luau Gardens is the largest outdoor space on the property and it is also, in Marriott’s own words, home to the Te Au Moana luau. A commercial luau runs there on a fixed schedule. That means the resort’s flagship lawn is not available every night, and the resort does not publish which nights are free. A planner page from 2021 claims Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays, but that is third party and five years old. Ask directly.
Two ceremony sites that planners sell and the resort does not list
Lanai Point and Makani Point come up constantly in Maui planner marketing and in real wedding blogs for this property. Neither appears anywhere on Marriott’s own capacity chart or wedding page. The resort lists Ulua Point. If a planner quotes you Lanai Point or Makani Point, confirm with the resort that it is bookable directly and what it costs, because the resort has not published either.
What we could not confirm
We publish what the venue publishes and we say so when a number is missing. These are the gaps as of our last check, and each one is worth asking about on your first call:
- The food and beverage minimum for any space, on any day. Nothing is published and the two directory figures contradict each other.
- Whether amplified music has a hard outdoor cutoff. A 10:00pm limit appears on one directory and nowhere in the resort’s own material.
- Whether you must use in house catering and bar. One directory says venue only, another lists outside vendors as available. They cannot both be right.
- Which nights Luau Gardens is genuinely free of the Te Au Moana luau.
- Whether the resort contracts exclusive use of a lawn, or whether a second event can run at the same time on the property.
- Real seated ceremony capacities. The published chart gives banquet and reception only.

Where this fits on Maui
This is the answer when the guest list is genuinely large and you want the reception to move indoors to a real ballroom. Almost nothing else on the island seats 950 under a roof. If you are under about 150 and want a published number instead of a proposal, Sugar Beach Events and Olowalu Plantation House both put their rates in writing. Grand Wailea is the other south shore resort at this scale and it publishes nothing either.
