In summary: Grand Wailea is the scale option on the Wailea strip. Its Haleakala Ballroom runs 26,700 square feet and seats 1,620 for a plated dinner, which the resort calls the largest resort ballroom in Hawaii, and it is the only property here with a standing wedding chapel. It publishes no pricing whatsoever, and two of its own websites disagree with each other on chapel capacity.

Two conflicts you should know about, because they are on the resort’s own websites. The Grand Wailea site lists the Seaside Chapel at 1,720 square feet seating 49. The Hilton page for the same property lists it at 1,000 square feet seating 45. Plan for roughly 45 to 50 and confirm before you build a guest list around it.
Second, the Grand Wailea site lists Molokini Bluff and Molokini Garden as two separate spaces, 2,200 and 22,964 square feet. The Hilton page attaches the larger figure to Molokini Bluff. The more granular listing is likelier to be right, but a ten fold discrepancy on a ceremony site is worth one phone call.
The ballroom, which is the actual differentiator
The Haleakala Ballroom is 26,700 square feet. The resort publishes 1,620 for a plated banquet, 2,500 theatre style and 1,250 classroom style, and calls it the largest resort ballroom in Hawaii. Nothing else in Wailea publishes a number close to it.
Resort wide, the property advertises 8 outdoor and 22 indoor spaces, over 100,000 square feet of meeting space across 40 oceanfront acres, and groups up to 3,000. If your wedding is truly large, or it is one event inside a multi day family gathering, this is the Maui property built for that.
The restaurant spaces also take events: Humuhumunukunukuapua’a holds 308 and Nobu Grand Wailea holds 175.
What it costs
Nothing is published. Not a site fee, not a food and beverage minimum, not a per person rate, not a package price. Every path on the resort’s site ends at a proposal request form or the events line at 808-891-3980.
We looked at the marketplace listings too. They carry no venue supplied pricing either. The only number anywhere is a guest review saying to expect to start around $30,000 for even a small wedding, and a review comment is not a price, so we are not publishing it as one.
The resort does publish what its Pilialoha Bond of Romance package includes, just not what it costs: champagne service, wedding cake, welcome beverage, lei exchange, floral arrangements, clergy, rehearsal coordination, a Waldorf wedding specialist, venue use, a hospitality room, one complimentary night, four hours of photography with digital images, and a solo musician on Hawaiian guitar, ukulele, harp, violin or cello.
That bundle is unusual. Most Wailea resorts sell you the room and leave clergy, flowers, cake and photography to you.
Practical notes
- You cannot budget this venue from its website. Build a call into your first week of planning.
- The chapel is the rare asset here. If a covered, weather proof ceremony matters, very few Maui venues offer one.
- Wailea Beach in front of the resort is public state land. A ceremony on the sand needs a state permit. Lawns do not. See the permit guide.
- Sunset is over the water from the oceanfront sites. Wailea faces west.
What we could not confirm
We publish what the venue publishes and we say so when a number is missing. These are the gaps on this venue as of our last check, and each one is worth asking about on your first call:
- Any price at all. This is the least transparent of the venues we profile.
- Whether outside vendors or outside planners are permitted.
- Catering and alcohol policy.
- Music curfew and noise restrictions.
- The true Seaside Chapel size and capacity, and the true Molokini Bluff size. The resort’s two websites contradict each other on both.
