In summary: Andaz fronts Mokapu Beach and sells three oceanfront lawns as its ceremony sites, one of which the resort describes as having a natural stage. It is the smallest of the three big Wailea resorts for a seated dinner, with 300 the largest confirmed number, and it is the only one where any starting price exists in public at all.

The lawns

  • Laule’a 1, the largest lawn, capacity 400.
  • Laule’a 2, oceanfront, capacity 400. The resort describes it as having a natural stage, which in practice means a raised area that reads well for a ceremony.
  • Laule’a 3, open lawn, capacity 200.
  • Nohea Lawn, beach views, 175 reception or 120 banquet.
  • Nohea Terrace, oceanside, 175 reception or 100 banquet.

The 400 figures on the two big Laule’a lawns are published without a set style, so they cannot be read as seated dinner numbers. The largest capacity Hyatt publishes with the word banquet attached is 300, in the Main Studio.

A third party listing claims 1,200 seated outdoors and 2,000 standing. Nothing on Hyatt’s own site supports that, so we are not treating it as fact.

Every published space

Space Published size Capacity
Main Studio 447 sq m 450 reception / 300 banquet
Laule’a 1 1,881 sq m 400
Laule’a 2 956 sq m 400
Laule’a 3 752 sq m 200
Nohea Lawn 160 sq m 175 reception / 120 banquet
Nohea Terrace 297 sq m 175 reception / 100 banquet
Ekahi (Studio 1) 154 sq m 120 theater / 100 reception
Studio Kitchen 170 sq m 100
Ekolu (Studio 3) 79 sq m 60 reception
Eha (Studio 4) 83 sq m 60 reception
Elima (Studio 5) 43 sq m 28 boardroom / 20 reception

Note the units. Hyatt publishes these in square metres even on its United States pages. Multiply by 10.76 if you are comparing against a venue quoting square feet, or you will badly misjudge the size of a room.

What it costs

Hyatt publishes no wedding pricing. The most cited third party listing gives packages starting at $15,500 plus tax, catering from $255 per person, a 25 percent service charge, and in house catering and alcohol only.

The line worth flagging on that listing is a $110 per person bar minimum, quoted separately from the catering rate. If that is accurate it moves a 100 guest budget by $11,000 on its own, and it is the kind of item that does not appear until a contract lands. Ask about it on the first call.

None of these figures come from Hyatt. Get them in writing.

Practical notes

  • Mokapu Beach is public state land. A ceremony on the sand needs a state permit, the Laule’a lawns do not. See the permit guide.
  • Sunset is over the water. Wailea faces west, which is why the afternoon ceremony blocks fill first across the whole strip.
  • The Studio Kitchen is a genuine event space, not a back of house room. It is used for culinary events and works for a rehearsal dinner.

What we could not confirm

We publish what the venue publishes and we say so when a number is missing. These are the gaps on this venue as of our last check, and each one is worth asking about on your first call:

  • Any Hyatt published price, minimum or package figure.
  • Whether the $110 per person bar minimum quoted by a third party is current.
  • Whether outside caterers, bar services or planners are permitted.
  • The specific music restrictions and curfew.
  • Any minimum guest count.

Where this fits on Maui

Andaz is the design forward pick on the Wailea strip and the one with a published starting point, even if that number is second hand. Above 300 seated, look at Grand Wailea. For exclusivity over scale, Four Seasons. Compare the strip on our Wailea and South Maui page.
