Why this page exists
Search for wedding venues at Kapalua and you will still find pages selling Montage Kapalua Bay, complete with capacities, package details and planner contacts. Those pages describe a hotel operator that left the property in March 2026.
Marriott’s own announcement, dated 13 March 2026, confirms it assumed management the following day, that the property is now The Resort at Kapalua Bay, that a St. Regis conversion follows renovations in 2027, and that the property remains open. It is live and bookable on Marriott.com under property code OGGXR.
All montage.com Kapalua URLs now redirect to the Montage corporate homepage with no Kapalua content. If a directory or a planner is quoting you Montage terms for this property, that information is at least five months stale and none of it can be verified against a live first party source.
What the property is
Around 25 oceanfront acres inside the wider Kapalua Resort community, composed of 146 multi bedroom, ocean view residences of two to four bedrooms rather than conventional hotel rooms. Marriott publishes 3,415 square feet of indoor meeting space and 30,210 square feet of outdoor event space, plus a 40,000 square foot spa with 19 treatment rooms, championship golf, tennis, direct beach access and multiple pools.
The residence format is not like a resort wedding. A wedding party can take whole units rather than a corridor of rooms, which suits multi generation families staying a week.
What is not known yet
There is no wedding page for this property on Marriott.com. Both the events and meetings URLs return errors as of our last check. That means no current, first party source publishes ceremony site names, per space capacities, maximum seated capacity, or any pricing.
A trade meetings directory names two rooms, Cliff House and Sunset Room, and gives a total event space figure that contradicts Marriott’s own numbers and a room count that contradicts Marriott’s 146 residences. We are not repeating those figures as fact.
What we would do if this were our wedding
Call 808-662-6600 and ask three questions before anything else. Is the resort accepting new wedding bookings during the renovation. Which outdoor areas are affected by construction and on what timeline. Will the terms you sign now survive the St. Regis conversion in 2027.
A property mid renovation and mid rebrand is not automatically a bad choice. It is often a negotiable one. It is a bad choice to book it on the strength of information published by an operator that has left.
